We had an amazing stay at Casa Arrona. After arriving into Oaxaca city to a disappointing air bnb we booked to stay here at the last minute - and it was a great decision! The staff are so lovely and kind and really look after you. The morning breakfast is amazing and you really feel like you are eating in someone’s home. The best omelette I have ever had! The rooms are beautiful, comfortable and very peaceful. It’s in a great location in the city but without any of the noise! Would highly recommend the taco place next door and also Kiyo cafe which is 2 blocks away. Casa Arrona is a real gem in Oaxaca!

I came to Oaxaca at a moment when my heart was tired. Like many, I was struggling with what was unfolding in the United States. I was also carrying the quiet, daily responsibility of caring for my 82-year-old husband. This trip was meant to be a brief sanctuary — a pause to breathe, to rest, to remember myself outside of worry and vigilance. I arrived full of anticipation, and despite falling ill with a relentless cough the very day I landed, my first week unfolded with surprising beauty. I live with asthma, and even though the constant coughing left me exhausted, I still managed to savor the colors, food, and spirit of this extraordinary place. By the end of the week, I was ready to return home when an unexpected January 2026 ice storm in the U.S. made travel impossible. What followed was a convergence of stressors I hadn’t anticipated: being stranded, unwell, overtired, and unknowingly experiencing a sudden spike in blood pressure that left me foggy, unsteady, and not quite myself. It was in that vulnerable moment that I arrived at Casa Arrona and she revealed her true heart. When I could no longer think clearly or advocate for myself, the staff somehow knew exactly what to do. Their kindness was not performative or procedural — it was human, intuitive, and deeply compassionate. They checked on me gently, made sure I was safe, helped me navigate medical care, and wrapped me in a sense of calm when my nervous system was anything but calm. Not once did I feel like a burden. Not once did I feel alone. They treated me not as a guest, but as family — the kind of family that knows when to step forward and when to simply sit beside you. Casa Arrona is a beautiful hotel, peaceful, and impeccably cared for — but what makes it extraordinary is its people. The staff embodies a level of loving-kindness that cannot be trained or taught; it can only be lived. In a moment when I was frightened, exhausted, and far from home, they became my ground, my steadiness, and my grace. Travel memories often fade into meals and views, but this one lives deeper. Casa Arrona will forever be a place of refuge in my heart, and I hope anyone who stays here understands how rare it is to be held with such genuine care.

I would move in if I could. The staff are incredibly kind and helpful -- they were always ready with recommendations or to lend a hand. The owner was happy to sit and chat, and I got to try some of his incredible mezcal + some beautiful cocktails. Every person I met elevated an already excellent experience into something exceptional. The hotel itself is one of the most thoughtful, intentional spaces I've ever been in. Every detail was carefully selected to create a comfortable and stylish environment. I know I probably sound crazy, but it's amazing that the soap in the rooms somehow matches the brown velvet couch in the reception / dining room, and those both also go with the art scattered throughout. It's an elegant, cozy masterpiece of design. Also, the food. Lord in heaven. I'm still thinking about the breakfasts there. And that takes some doing when you consider how much good food there is in Oaxaca. Location is great, very walkable but also not too loud at night.

I've just returned from a 3 week visit to Mexico and one of the highlights of my trip was staying at the beautiful Casa Arrona in Oaxaca city. They've created an absolute sanctuary there. It's stunning, peaceful - everywhere you look you can see the detail, care, love and history that has been created or kept there. My room, Interior I, was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The hot water/shower pressure was great. The staff - right from the start of booking, to arriving, throughout the stay, and then leaving - were all so lovely and gracious. I think my favourite part of my stay, if I had to pick just one - were the communal breakfasts. Not only was the food absolutely delicious and plentiful - created fresh right in front of you - but it was so fun meeting the other travellers and having such warm, wonderful conversations. The location of Casa Arrona is great too. Close enough to walk everywhere but you're not in a busy, noisy zone. Can't say enough good things. Hope to return one day!

Casa Arrona was such a retreat! Gorgeous hotel, so relaxing. The staff are welcoming, and made an exception to let us book same day and check in early. A chef cooked breakfast in a beautiful kitchen—avocado toast and eggs, oatmeal and fruit one day, and kefir with fruit and granola, plus memelas (tortillas with black beans and Oaxacan cheese) the next. The hotel has a clean and relaxing courtyard with lots of share and tables to sit, and the rooms were perfect. High ceilings, comfortable beds, and gorgeous shower with great smelling boutique shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

We came here for our honeymoon and had an absolutely incredible time at Casa Arrona! Karina, Rodrigo and all of the staff were so friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Our room and the whole hotel was beautiful, with a lovely garden and terrace. And all our breakfasts were amazing! Would 100% reccomend!

This place is so beautiful and has the kindest and most relaxing environment. It feels like a five star hotel with just the most well designed space and art. If you are in the design world you will be pleasantly surprised with the aesthetic and nature of this hotel. Great find, great location, but mist of all wonderful people here who open this place with their heart. The breakfast every morning is something I still miss and dream off. Thank you for the most delightful and special hospitality experience.

A total gem in Oaxaca. 7 rooms in a beautifully designed space. Lovely staff, breakfast and advice on what to do in the city + help organising tours. I’ve already recommended it to friends and family and we haven’t even left yet.
